I-140 approval - March 2008
Spouse 485/AP/EAD applied - August 2008 (received receipt notices)
Self EAD applied - August 2008 (received receipt notices)
Till date I have not received my FP notice. I applied for my EAD (even though I am not planning on using it) hoping to jump start my pending 485 and get the things rolling for FP and processing of 485. Surprisingly, I got my EAD approval email on Aug 17th and I received my EAD card in the mail yesterday. It is valid for 2 years. It says finger prints not available. No change in the pending 485 status.
I am totally perplexed about receiving the EAD without FP and so is my attorney. Can someone give me an idea of what is going on? Any input is appreciated! Thanks much!
Hi SKK, it is not really required to have finger printed to get teh EAD approval. (i am talking aboutthe first time EAD). Your FP may come later on. At least in my case it was like that. I got my EAD approval first and later on only the FP came. Hope this helps ...

I applied for EAD and AP renewal on June 30. I received AP approval on July 18th and got EAD approved on August 15th.

Everyone here on this forum understands the frustration of H4 limitations.
However, to say that IV has not done anything beyond media publicity is far from truth.
I hope that you read the "Amendments" link on the homepage(top).
These amendments sponsored by Sen. Brownback and co-sponsored be Sen. Alexander and Bingaman DID NOT HAPPEN AUTOMATICALLY.
And they did not come from other organization or lobbying firm. They were introduced to the comprehensive bill on April 7(Just before recess) SOLELY due to efforts of IV, QGA, AAPI and the good staff at Brownback's office.
I have to point this out because by saying that "IV has not done anything besides media publicity" is not true and it discourages people who have spent hundreds of dollars of OWN money to travel to Washington DC and lobby for these amendments. On top of that, core group members HAVE taken UNPAID TIME OFF FROM THEIR WORK to travel to DC. These things are not easy to get done. Unfortunately there is a partisan env now in Senate and the Comp bill's future is uncertain but had that bill been passed in Senate, it would have had amendments that come from nowhere else BUT Immigration voice.
So please be kind to the group and have patience. H4 applicants have a bad situation, but there are some in our membership who have been laid off after 6th year and are looking to go back to India as their current employer would withdraw the pending labor. So these guys are GOING BACK to country of origin along with their H4 SPOUSES. Things could be a lot worse and one should be mindful that everyone has problems in their lives.

I actually spoke to Customer service and I got 2 very different responses.
1. Wait till you are an old man and then the cards may just come !! (Just Kidding ) she actually said wait for 90 days.
2. Another CSR told me that the TSC is having technical issues and they are not able to access the Biometric information on approved 485's in their systems. She advised me to download Form I-90 from the USCIS site and fill that in and send it in - if you have a minor on the petition then also send 2 passport size pictures of the minor - this will allow them to access the Biometric screen when they process the I-90. We will get Biometric notices and the Minor will get the card - the Grown ups will get the Cards after the Biometrics are uploaded.
I have not done this - eventhough I downloaded the I-90 forms - I took a INFOPASS appt and if they suggest that I should do a I-90 then I can get that done right on the spot - I am carrying the filled I-90 with me. Anyhow I-90 is usually submitted to correct errors on the card or to replace a card - however this woman sounded quite knowledgeable - but then there are issues realted to where the I-90 should be sent - this is specially complicated if your case has been transferred a few times like mine was.
Best is to check with the guys/gals at Infopass -meeting.
All this was from the rep at the TSC - so not sure if this is applicable to all centers.
AGAIN THIS IS WHAT I HEARD FROM THE TSC REP - PLEASE USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK - I AM NOT SENDING THE I-90 ON MY OWN.

They almost always take some kind of FPs. What I mean is that there are 3 biometrics codes. Code 3 is the most comprehensive, where they take your photo, signature and all ten fingers FP. Check your notice in the upper right corner, there should be a box that says "Code".

I dont *****ing care if they are under pressure... they still have to follow the guideliens.... just an analogy... just because ur under pressure to reach work on time... doesnt give you the liberty to speed... u still have to follow the speed limits... whatever.... i am just damn frustrated with this whole mess

First step is to collect details ( Name, E-mail and Ph No# )
Please send them MAN-WOMAN-GC ASAP . He has gracefully offered to maintain a spreadhseet.
Once we reach the number of resources, we will have conference calls, meet in person whoever can, arrange for money, decide on lawyers ( which MadhuVJ has some very good suggestions ) and move on from there

Hi,
There are several restrictions/constraints for many ppl for not being able to devote time/money for the general cause. Let's not fret about the reasons. While it would help for all ppl to join forces that should not distract the group that is doing something about the issues.
And ppl on the sidelines - pls don't be a passive professional critique. However valuable your comments and ideas are they are useless without acting upon it - they are just like seeds sown in a barren land. The good work of the forum will continue without your presence. With your involvement we all can reach the goal that much more faster.
My Labor certification is actually filed in the state of IL. But i am on an assignment in MD till Sep 2010 (after filing for relevant amendments).
It's ~5 hrs drive for me to Baltimore/Washington-DC. So, coming every week for a meeting is not practical. I am extremely eager to support OUR cause given the commuting constraints. I have already written to our congress man here to bring to his notice the struggles of wannabee immigrants.
So, where do i sign up?

I have to say, no matter how reluctant I am, that I am pretty depressed about the whole green card thing. I have always tried to have a positive attitude and I definitely know that there are a lot of things much more important than green cards. However, I do feel the emotional toll of green card retrogression. Maybe admitting, instead of denying, of the frustration, depression, and even anger is better and may help face it up.

Simple reason USCIS will tell you/senator/judge/anyone who really seek the resolution of our loooooong delayed cases is.....case is in security/background/additional review checks.....so everyone will shut their mouth and forward this message to the concerned person.....

Yeah they have to follow the 180 day rule in that case.....if the NC is pending.
