I got a Multiple Entry Stamp.. ( last week of jan 2008)
The consulate officer who interviewed me did mention that they will try to get the passport back to me next day by 3 pm but there are chances that it might take a few days...
The next day I went to pick up my passport at 3 and it was not ready..The security guy said -> "because of the new system, the stamping is taking a while. But most of the guys have got it the next day by 5 pm.. the worst case was an H1 candidate who had to comeback after 2 days for his passport...But that was the only blip ..."
I would suggest booking ur tickets as if you were to get the passport the next day, but also buy the 52$ insurance (if you buy it on Orbitz) so that you can easily cancel and re-book it...
Also I read in several posts about who could go to halifax for stamping. Its true that only revalidation candidates should schedule but

I agree - the UK govt's policy statement, at least on the doctor's issue was clear : "We had a shortage earlier, therefore we needed foreign doctors. The shortage no longer exists, so we no longer need you. Please leave before mm-dd-yyyy". Contrast that with the US govts "we love your brains but hate your bodies policy" .. on one hand corporations cannot do without foreign skilled labor, at the same time folks like Lou FOULMOUTH and his cronies in congress and elsewhere cannot do without bashing them. In the tug-of-war between these two parties, we are left to rot on the sidelines - neither kicked out, nor allowed a rightful place to progress in society. If thats the case, why don't they simply remove the dual intent clause (and all those 1-yr / 3yr dole-outs aka extensions) from the H1-B program ? Thats better than having to live 15 years on an H1-B.
UK is at lease clear what is their immigration policy. I would like to have similar stand from US Govt where they come out and say in clear words "we don't want to in here" OR "Come here, work for 6 years and leave" OR "we cant you to stay and fix the GC process.

Q-74 (04-15-2006): I had a pending RIR (EB-3) labor certification with priority date of October 2004. In November 2005, I filed PERM (EB-2) which was approved in February 2006. I filed I-140 (EB-2) right away. Now, my RIR was approved. I plan to file another I-140 based on RIR (EB-3). Can I carry over the priority date of October 2004 to EB-2? What should I do to carry over the October 2004 priority date?
A-74: The immigration regulation provides that when an alien has multiple "approved" I-140 petitions with different classifications, the alien can use the earliest priority date. This carry-over of the priority date is available regardless of difference in the occupational classifications, preference categories or employers. Unlike common misunderstanding, one cannot seek amendment of the approved I-140 petition to change the priority of a given petition. In your case, once your EB-2 I-140 petition is approved and the visa cut-off date for EB-2 for your country moves to October 2004, even if your EB-2 priority date is November 2005, you can file I-485/I-765/I-131. In filing I-485, you should attach EB-2 I-140 approval notice (original) as the underlying I-140 petition and submit a photocopy of the approved EB-3 I-140 approval notice as an evidence to prove the priority date of October 2004. Hi,
My in-laws came to US last Firday along with my kid who is a US citizen.
Their passport has a stamp that says Admitted on Apr 17 at Chicago, Class B2 and "Until" is blank. There should be a date that tells they can stay until this date.
What are my options now. Do i need to let it go or contact some one and bring it to their notice etc..
Any help is appreciated
Are you saying the I-94 does not have the date written in the "until" column or is it only on the passport? Usually, on the passport, the CBP officer just stamps it as "Admitted" and NOT write the date of departure except in cases of Parole stamps - all my entry stamps on my passport do not have dates written on them when I entered using H1B.

Some people did mistakes in the past and tried to correct it. If they are successful in correcting the mistake legally, then you should feel happy about it and wish them success.
At least don't wish them bad luck....
C'mon. That would be naive of one to think so. An informed person has the best assets to stake when in trouble. If a person did not even know a violation has occured in the past and the harm it can induce, they will not be prepared to face the trouble or what to concentrate on if called for a GC interview or an RFE.

How come they are doing namechecks on women? That is supposed to only for male from 17-45 years of age? Can you please clarify? what is namecheck or TechnologyAlertList (this is the only check they can likely do on women as per my understaning).

This time she was on H-1 and I asked the attorney that if she goes for H-1 and H-1 get's delayed or denied can she use AP without affecting the GC and his answer was Yes. The AP should have an approval date before she left the country i.e. AP should be approved while she was in US.

Not an expert but my guess is this window of opportunity will exist till next Fiscal year's bulletin is out i.e around 10th sep 2007. If you haven't already filed 485 you are unlikely to be approved during the window. I would go with aggressive approach i.e file based on pending EB2 and upgrade to PP. If you want to be conservtive because you never know if the porting will be accepted or not, or if it may add more delay just file eb3 485 right away, take the beneifts like ead etc.. and later port if retrogressed.
Here's a rather strange and may be uncommon situation for someone I know who needs suggestions from gurus here...such huge PD movements do result in strange situations such as these :)

I just called USCIS and according to the person I spoke with, it takes approximately 30 days from the date of approval of primary applicant for approval of dependents.
I doubt if that is the case. I know people where the whole family got it.

Same thing happened with me - since graduation I have been in the same company for 5 yrs, still as far as labor is concerned it is considered MS+0 yrs( i was very very disappointed on learning that), but changing job to get EB-2 just for this cause is a bit of over-reaction (assuming you are happy in ur current job).
I am in great need of some suggestions. I hold a MS degree in computer science and graduate in 2004 dec. Since then I have been with the same employer.
Now that he is filing for my LC. Is it difficult to get through with MS+0yrs of expereince ?
Also, at this point of time i have found other employers who is willing to do my GC in which case I will have MS+2 yrs of expereince.
Is it worth changing employer for gaining 2 yrs of expereince for my LC.
Does this really make my case more stronger ? or I am just OVER REACTING ? and doing unneccessary thing
DOES THE EXPEREINCE with MS makes it better for EB2 ?
Please let me know if there are some experts out there

Can someone advise on this. My 6 yrs of H1 expires in Jan 2008. Employer says they will only apply 90 days prior to H1-b expiration.
They already applied my 485 and AP.
What should I be doing?
1. Can I apply EAD myself?
2. will I get in trouble if I do not have EAD and my H1 expires?

Where is the best place to learn Peoplesoft ? What is future scope of Peoplesoft ? Also where is a good place to learn SAP or Oracle Financials ?
Do local Univ or Community colleges - Computer Science or MIS departments offter these classes ? Does one need to learn C to learn these applications ?
My only prior programming experience is in Basic and Fortran languages eons ago.
A lot of Indian consulting companies offer training prior to marketing yoour resume. Check them out, some medium size ones, big ones have purchased training licences and fulltime trainers in ERP packages like Oracle Finaicials, Peoplesoft, Siebel etc... Though all these are now owned by Oracle.
A good way to enter IT as you have an MBA is try to get into Data warehousing. This woouldd involve a lot of Oracle traning and there are a lot of companies who give beefore they place you on projects. But remember that once you go through consulting companies, andd based on the fact they trained you and placed you, they will pay you a average deceent salary butwill charge the cllient tons of money and client would expect you to work for whhat he gives
