yes lets put the burning act aside. Also it should be clear in the rallies that it is LEGAL immigration that we are talking. I still see some comments on the news stories. "All Illegals should be sent away"
My point is that any time we talk about immigration, common people think illegal as thats the only side they are exposed to.

Is it possible for an administrative fix at the USCIS where the H-1B worker doesn't fall out of status immediately on losing his/her job? Or would such a provision require a law to be passed by the Congress?
A grace period of say 3 months to look for a job, or to pack up and leave, would relieve the pressure on the laid off H-1B worker and reduce incidents of system abuse.
If this can be done at the USCIS, perhaps we can write to the Obudsman and also to the USCIS director/associate directors. This is an important issue in this economy. I will be happy to draft a letter.

I feel sorry for EB3 folks even though I'm under EB2. But I get upset when some of the EB2 folks don't even know the reason why they started getting green cards recently all of a sudden ( b'coz of roll over). They don't educate themselves and talk as if they deserve the green cards. If was a collective effort from IV and fellow immigrants that pressurised USCIS to follow the rules and reduce the backlogs.
Are you implying every person born in India in the EB2 owes a debt of gratitude to IV?
Why do people not deserve their greencards? If they followed the law, stood in line, and the government of the USA deemed them fit for a GC what else do you need for them to be deserving? Touch your feet and get your blessings?

I do not understand why people spend their energy in coming up with some lame ideas. Just because you suffer does not mean that your fellows have to suffer, what is the point of being a sane individual with that kind of thought process.
There are people who come here on all kinds of visas F1, H1, L1 and like this country and stay back and need a green card for convenience. Students who came here want priority over people who came on H1B. It makes sense from their point of view.
Similarly people on H1B who got stuck in several stages and had to change the company have their own point of view.
How bout having a lame rule saying that GC for people with I.Q of 140 and above?

How bout having a lame rule like if you have a family you will be penalized by putting you at the end of the line for GC?
The list can go endless..
Worry less about who is cutting the line and getting ahead and please concentrate and put your energy and come up with good ideas and showing what we are really capable of..

This method of collecting funds to get to a target and execute a pre-planned POA is great! I like this method, where we commit to funds and when we know, we have enough, we pull the trigger. But we need to have a plan and estimate the costs of that plan. This is a great way to go about, i think.

I am just trying to see if NSC could go past the I-485 received on 06/01/2007. Many folks whose application was received the first day got receipt and receipt#. Is there anyone who applied later and got the receipt or receipt#.
I know atleast 5 friends whose applications reached NSC on 06/04/2007. No updates yet. I am very +ve they will soon as they are even working weekends....

Did anyone get their physical Cards without getting CPO message ?
I have recd the I-797C Approval notice on the 11th but I have not recd the physical cards as yet. BTW I did not get any welcome e-mail or CPO mail - I directly got 485 Approval e-mail and that is all.

Yes, Microsoft and many other major employers could easily find qualified US students with two years of experience, skills by the way comparable to what the vast majorities of H1B's offer, but Americans who do not need the H1B would give a finger to any employer who would expect that an American would work 80h/week for 55K/year.
Hmm, so one would conclude that immigrants work harder than the natives. What is stopping the natives from working as hard? At the very least the immigrants are keeping natives honest and increasing competitiveness.
You also misunderstand the chief reason why younger employees work long hours. It is because they want to learn and become more productive in the future, so they can make more money, not because their job depends on it.
The illegal aliens are being backed by major employers of cheap labor, such as Wall Mart and many others. Illegals also can put extra long hours and therefore they yield more output for less investiment. That's is the reason that US employers seem to fight so consistently to keep them here.
This may well be true for illegals. In fact it is true for any work that is well understood.
By its very nature high skilled workers are expected to perform leveraged work where there isn't a direct correlation between results achieved and the number of hours worked.
For the naive and dreamers out there who are shaking their heads after reading the above and believe that employers cannot find qualified applicants, so just answer this:
How many million dollars per year are the top management of Fortune 500 companies making? The US is not about drastic wages inequalities. This is about paying a fair salary, otherwise we have increasing salary inequality and this should be renamed then to Mexico, India or something like that.
See my comment above about leveraged work. This applies all the way to the CEO, and is the reason for insane salaries. As for the point about salary inequality, US income equality is better than Mexico's and significantly worse than India's, so there may be something there contributing to angst amongst Americans.
