Last year we started a major membership campaign in Colorado. People kind of agreed that IV is the appropriate platform for this crusade, and they were willing to contribute money, but only if they see required transparency in the IV organization. Members of the state chapters have so far not heard about how the contributed money is spent, and what kind of lobbying took place in Washington.
Is good to hear the cheers of "IV is our only hope", and yes in one way it is, but unless we bring required reform to IV, the status quo will maintain. That is several years since its inception : limited number of paying members, half hearted participation in various campaigns, and inactive state chapters.

Infact you have to break 140,000 into four quarters and apply contry quota (7%) to it since EB-3 ROW was not current on these dates. Thus it was hardly a surprise that India and China and EB-3 ROW remained retrogress on these dates.
Now fast forward to June 2007, there were 40,000 visa available in that last quarter and EB-3 ROW was in no position to consume that many that means spillover would come to India and China EB3/EB3 or else visa would be wasted in big numbers. The solution was to increase the supply and hence everything was current overnight. Until USCIS came in to spoil the party. They didn't do it in any simple way instead they choose the route of complete exhashtion and hence shutting the door.
Bottom line is: Unless demand for EB-3 ROW subsides (or it becomes current leaving substantial numbers for spillover) India EB-2 will always be cap subjected to 3200 or so visas every year. The sad part is catching up with the demand for EB-3 ROW is a moving target and thus EB-2 India might NEVER qualify for spillovers. I hope I am proved wrong by someone who has more insight.

I think we should be careful about what we (Employment based immigrats, esp. those who are stuck in backlogs) support. I definitely do not support any reform that does not give us priority or does not eliminate employment based immigration backlogs.
I also think green card lottery, chain immigration, and refugee green cards should be eliminated and those visa numbers should be used for employment based immigrants because all these people can immigrate just like us through employment. We contribute more to the American society and should be given priority. I guess when we become American someday, we would like immigrants who contribute to our community too. Isn't that right? :)

On the one side you have the EB2. Earning more, and better educated. Clearly more important human beings to IRS and society. On the other we have EB3 Junta trying to get what they think is their right to spillover.
Now I understand all your points and agree with all of them.
Only 1 question :D why is IV not fighting to increase the regular (non spillover) quota for the clearly better category EB2. This is clearly not fair such super humans having to share same numbers as lower categories. Lower categories should go to Bombay where there is one apartment which is still empty.
Or better still get rid of the EB3 category altogether. Problem is solved! :D

What I did till now.
1) Contacted Senator/Congressman/Governor
2) Filled 7001 form for Ombudsman
3) Called USCIS 10 times in last 10 days and come to know that everything is cleared on my and wife applications.
4) Strange thing applied EAD on July 15th 2008 and got approved today august 12 2008.
Did you do all this for EAD?

Any volunteer for the letter. We will need to move fast ! God knows what Oct bulletin has in store for us.
My biggest worry is that the bulletin may show retrogressed dates and the dates will stay there as it is till last quarter when visa flow will take place.

These kind of agreements doesnt stand in any court .You can always say that you are forced to sign for your livelihood period.Esp. if he is a desi employer he even doesnt dare to go to court as that will cause more damage.

I agree absolutely. Living right here near DC and being a victim of the present USCIS mess, I still did not know about this campaign until a family member from India mentioned about it after reading it in the local newspaper.
I quickly signed up on this site and sent the flowers to be delivered yesterday.
I think the biggest 'thank you' belongs to Chidananda Rajghatta of the Times of India as far as the media is concerned. After all, it was his report in TOI that lit a fire under this campaign!

Buddy, it looks like its only you and me remaining who has not received the FP notice. For me its been 30 days since opening SR and nothing. We are the unfortunate ones who have not only not received FP but our application are in TSC , where opening an SR is of no use.
We may want to try a different strategy to inquire about our FP rather than calling that number floating around which is of no use to us. All I got from calling that number was WAIT , Local ASC must be busy.
I am not sure InfoPass appointment will help, but hope its worth trying.
I am July Filer too I have not received evn a single receipt for anything. I called USCIS they said it is taking from 90 to 120 days so wait and call.

I only took Bank Statements. In my case they did not even ask to see those.
As proof of funds for landing, do we need to carry cashiers-checks etc or just a plain printout of bank-statement (INGDirect) is good enough?

i do not understand the fuss about it. why do we over react to it. Big law firms like FDBL ( fragmon) all said the lawsuit is not winnable no chance , DOS can change VB any time as per federal law. whats the use of all this??

Fragomen just likes to sit on it's a#*^ and get money from their corporate accounts. The corporations do not particularly have any motivation to act either ways. The only law firms likely to act on this will be the ones who get paid directly by the likes of us. I have experienced four different firms (including Fragomen) in last 7 years.
