As you have efiled your EAD the FP you have received might not necessarily mean the FP for 485, it could be just for EAD. Gurus any comment!!
I am a July 2nd Filer, and have not gone through FP till now.
I e filed on 11th May for EAD /AP renewal for myself and spouse.
LUD on 14 th May. Receipt notices received 16 th may.
Got FP notice only for myself on 19 th May.
(Still waiting for spouse's FP notice)

1. "W2 Self-employed" is an oxymoron. Self-employed option is possible through 1099. Nowhere on the Yates memo (or any other USCIS resource) does it say that you have to be on a "permanent" job. You sure can be self-employed (i.e., not on a W2) with AC21 provision, as the Yates memo clearly says.
[Now, you can be self-employed with unlimited liability. If you want to reduce your liability, you can open an LLC, which gives you the freedom of filing your income taxes either as a "Sole Proprietor," a "C-Corp," or an "S-Corp." (Please see IRS website for tax implications, e.g., http://www.irs.gov/businesses/small/article/0,,id=154770,00.html)]
Also, no employer can give you an EVL saying "permanent" job, nor are you required by USCIS to mention that, nor your salary (unless asked for), nor the date when your job ends. Therefore, your statement that "As long as your self employed as drawing w2 salary and doing the same duties - it is permanent employment" is wrong for two reasons. One, you can't be on W2 AND self-employed for the same job (you can, though, open a part-time business on EAD with same/similar responsibility as your labor cert, and file that income as a "Self-employed," or as a "C-Corp," or as an "S-Corp"). If you have any emergency to go out of country or to change jobs, you can get your passport stamped by taking an Infopass appointment or you can request IO to upload the Biometrics to TSC. you will get the card in 10 or 15 business days after uploading the biometrics. either way your GC is approved..so no worries.
My answer is depending on my experience with GC.

Yesterday status got updated for me and my wife as below:
Current Status: Approval notice sent.
On August 8, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.
Hope I will receive GC soon. Haven't got CPO mails/status yet.

I am just trying to see if NSC could go past the I-485 received on 06/01/2007. Many folks whose application was received the first day got receipt and receipt#. Is there anyone who applied later and got the receipt or receipt#.

I do not understand why people spend their energy in coming up with some lame ideas. Just because you suffer does not mean that your fellows have to suffer, what is the point of being a sane individual with that kind of thought process.
There are people who come here on all kinds of visas F1, H1, L1 and like this country and stay back and need a green card for convenience. Students who came here want priority over people who came on H1B. It makes sense from their point of view.
Similarly people on H1B who got stuck in several stages and had to change the company have their own point of view.
How bout having a lame rule saying that GC for people with I.Q of 140 and above?

How bout having a lame rule like if you have a family you will be penalized by putting you at the end of the line for GC?
The list can go endless..
Worry less about who is cutting the line and getting ahead and please concentrate and put your energy and come up with good ideas and showing what we are really capable of..

Soilders returning from voilent conflicts have the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder( PTSD ) also called as Shell Shock . I coin this term "Pre Green card Stress disorder". or Pre Green Card SHock.
Dr Sanjay Gupta who seems be an immigrant himself has spent lots of hours researching "Shell shock " maybe we should send him this new term to research .
And last but not the least , Relax . Staying here is not the end of the world .We came here we tried very hard , if God forbid we fail . I personally do not mind one bit to go back to my motherland . Remember if US is teh present then India is the Past and India will be the future . Thats where all the action is now and will be in the future .

My date will be current next month. But I got fingerprinting notice, and the appointment is on Sep 17th . Does that means will I have to wait until my FP is done to get the approval?. Please suggest me is there any way I can get my FP done prior to the scheduled date. This is my 2nd FP notice. First one was in Feb 2008.

I would not support this at all. Though it would clear the back log for the primary immigrant. What about the spouse and children. When you get your GC, dont you want to get it for your spouse and kids. Do you want them to keep in limbo for five years. It can be counted against family quota but should be given along with the primary. Otherwise its crap.

I don't think its much different from what is posted. Only one time contributions are being considered for this event.
I have a shared doc with StarSun and all known ones have been accounted for the above total.
Only one month left to achieve our funding goals.
It does look like there are only a few hundred (~200) willing to actively participate for the good of others. About 0.04 % of all EB2, EB3 filers.
One possible strategy.......
Dividing 50,000 into that, it will be great if you hardworking people, fighting for legal immigrants, can touch about $200-400 each,
while the rest watch from the sidelines and cheer for us :), and also debate & analyze spiritedly.....

Once again a bureaucrat miscalculated the power hidden behind a peaceful protest. Now the power behind flowers is becoming a media mainstream story. NY Times, Washington Post, Reuters, Yahoo News are a few to name. Bollywood, has recently issued a statement providing its full support to Immigration Voice, the non profit organization behind the flower campaign.
An American way of fighting injustice "A law suit" is on its way, the usual rallies and demonstrations are about to begin. However, in America, its first time after Martin Luther King Jr., that someone has tried to apply Gandhi's way to fight injustice. It is yet not clear that what would be the outcome of this campaign, but there are rumours that USCIS is already discussing internally to reverse the discriminatory decision which resulted in this flower campaign causing enough embarrassement to them.
Its amazing to witness that 60 years after Gandhi's demise, his ideology is still relevant. We are sure its gonna remain relevant till there are Lord Wavell's in this world. Wavell's can momentarily laugh thinking that unorganized immigrants are helpless, but when the peaceful protest will demonstrate its political power, they surely will realize what Gandhi and Gandhian ways are all about.

Dear admins,
I think deleting my post was not fair. The other people who have been bashing us with MS degrees need to also have their posts deleted.
I was not offensive in anyway, I just pointed out the reality of the situation and that is not "being offensive."
If you are afraid of alienating some of your contributors, well then by deleting the posts of ppl with Masters degrees you risk alienating them.
If I offended the admin personally if he/she does not have a masters degree, I apologize for hurting your "feelings" but that does not allow you to delete my post.
Finally, since 99% of the time the admins come back with not relevant to the thread, I agree on that ground but respectfully request the deletion of posts by a bunch of others like the "hiring manager" who instigated this discussion.
The posts were deleted on the basis of one criteria only- whether they were offensive to others or not and not on the basis of who wrote the post. If you do feel some post is offensive to you, please report it to us by clicking on the exclamation mark above the post.
As far as this discussion about Masters in the US is concerned, it must have been pushed for by the Universities themselves as this could be a selling point for their degrees.
People do have to realize that if people with Masters are taken out of the quota, then all of us benefit. In the current queue there could easily be tens of thousands of people with Masters Degree. If they are taken out of the quota, the rest of us benefit from the reduced queue.
PS - I have a non US, non STEM advanced degree but I still strongly support this measure.
