been in us since 1999 and lost my earlier priorty date and now my priority date is Jan 2007...it sucks...the only good thing is i now have EAD and AP. everyone who is here fro last 5-6 years should be current with priority dates..

Based on the same logic, I would say that the job of stopping discrimination against EAD/H1B etc. is mainly the responsibility of Citizens and GC holders. It is their country; it is up to them to fix it.
There are laws in place, already, for discrimination against applicant having proper work authorization.
If the affected person does not report or take action, then nothing will happen. It is high time that "highly skilled workers" aware of their rights. Sanju mentioned a term "educated illiterates" for such reasons.
Many consulting companies do not pay salary on bench. If the employee does not report to DoL, will he/she get his/her salary? No. The issue of discrimination is on the similar lines.
There is no requirement for employer to consider any applicant who is on H-1B visa status. It is entirely voluntary and upto the employer whether to sponsor H1 visa or not. Same thing holds good for sponsoring green card as well.

I applied for EAD and AP renewal on June 30. I received AP approval on July 18th and got EAD approved on August 15th.

Please read IRS links I posted above re independent contractor vs. worker. Since you'll be filing your taxes as an independent contractor/sole proprietor on 1099, you'll be considered "self-employed." AC21 allows self-employment. You may not be formally opening a company, but you'll be self-employed.

As mentioned in my earlier post, address on my husband's I-485 was changed by USCIS system wrongly to attorney's address. We were wondering whether the documents went to old address or attorney and thank god our attorney has received it today and we will get it tomorrow. As for me and my son, still waiting...

at some month before OCT 2007 the dates would become unavailable.
what would happen at that time?
say your case was received by USCIS and they have not issued FP notices.
what if they issued FP notices but not issued EAD and/or AP.

Why are you not taking EB1 into account where the diff is 9 - 10 years. I came to US on L1 in 2001 Then applied for EB3 in 2004 which was deneied in 2006. Then started in EB2 in 2006. So if you consider, I have been here since 2001 not that I just come in 2006. Like the same way you too move up in your career and then apply for EB2.

I personally believe there are limitations for IV or any other organisation to influence the Political and Economic force that are existing in this world nowadays. That is the TRUTH. But TRUTH sometimes is undigestable and it hurts a lot, and especially people who is having an agenda it hurts a lot! get to know the 100 senators and 435 house reps. especially how they stand on legal immigration.

For god's sake, if you intend to send hundreds of emails and letters and call yourselves highly skilled immigrants, can you take the time to have your letter proof read by someone? If not anyone, at least by Microsoft Word?? I start reading the text of some of the emails and shake my head at some of the gobbledegook you are spewing. It is counter productive to say the least.

You are seeing it from a complete 180 degrees than I see it. It's not us who's discriminating, it is the laws which are discriminating. I am asking them to treat us all equal, I entered the country on an H1B which was an employement based application it did not hav any country quota, then why should green cards for EB have country quota. Why should a person from India wait for 10 year and a person from Romania get it in 1 year....I think your ROW friends shold understand our position.
